Pavilion

Yes I saw that.....but it doesnt say what is going in or if anyone is taking it over....how sad!

Well I was searching google about that and it seems like I remember reading they were going to build more condos there %26amp; maybe shops and sometihng to go along with it to remember the pavilion...... %26amp; I%26#39;d say why they are tearing it down too is because the Hard Rock Theme Park will be open in 2008 %26amp; so it would be hard to keep business open for 3 or 4 theme parks in the area. I%26#39;ll miss the pavilion but im glad to see something new coming to MB. I%26#39;ll probably go to Florida next year and then come back 2008 hopefully to a new interstate(maybe) %26amp; a new theme park! I%26#39;m excited about that.

Lisa,

There have been several stories in the MB paper over the last year, or so. At this point, the owners (Burroughs %26amp; Chapin, or B%26amp;C) have not indicated exactly what they will put in place of the Pavilion. They have had preliminary drawings made of a new resort. This would include a beach-front hotel, along with resort amenities.

The only areas affected at this time are the amusement park and the actual ';Pavilion'; building that is across fromt he amusement park, along the beach.

The other businesses in the area (bars like Peaches Corner, stores like the Gay Dolphin, and attractions like Ripleys) are not affected. However, it is assumed that if a resort hotel takes the place of the Pavilion, then these businesses will begin to lose customers, and ultimately will close. But, who knows?

A very interesting point is that B %26amp; C also own the property on Hwy 17 where the old Mall was located. They tore down the mall, and no one knows yet what they are going to do with the property. It is a prime piece of property!

So, to answer your question about what is happening with the Pavilion... no one knows for sure. All we know is that the amusement park will be closed.

For more info, check out the local paper. You can search for stories about the Pavilion on-line:

Thanks for the info. It%26#39;s always sad to see a classic come to an end. We had that here with Euclid Beach Park. Sigh....
