I have just started planning our first trip to Myrtle Beach and until now I didn%26#39;t realize that MB and NMB was two completely different areas. We have three kids ages 14, 12 and 11 and will be visiting there in early Oct.. I am trying to figure out which one the kids would probably enjoy the most and what kind of things there are to do in each area. I appreciate any help you can give me on this topic.
Myrtle Beach or North Myrtle Beach
I believe that the kids will like Myrtle better. There reason that I say this is because there is more things to do with more kids there. NMB is more laid back.
Myrtle Beach or North Myrtle Beach
Agree that MB is better for that age than NMB. (Nothing wrong with North Myrtle, it just seems to be so laid back for my tastes and not as busy. Which I like the busy but not loud areas. I want to be where everyone else is. Now maybe in 20 years when I get retired and start having some grandkids, I might like North Myrtle a little more for myself and husband when we are vacationing.)
The Hampton Inn Oceanfront, The Breakers Paradise Towers, The Compass Cove Mariner Building or Pinnacle or Schooner are nice. These are in nice areas for that age. I wouldn%26#39;t particularly advise you to stay in the middle of the ';strip'; because you wouldn%26#39;t probably like it. But if you stay either just below or just above that area, everything is still in walking distance.
Depends on what your children enjoy doing. If your primary objective on this vacation is going to the beach in a more %26#39;relaxed%26#39; atmosphere, then NMB. If your children enjoy arcades, rides, amusements, etc...then MB would work out better.
Thank you for the info. It sounds like me and the wife would prefer NMB but the kids would enjoy MB more. I%26#39;ll probablly let the kids have this one since we left them behind recently while we headed off to Key West.
Thanks for the help.
Or you could split the difference....stay in the area known as the Avenues or the Gazebo section in Myrtle Beach. This area has one of the better beaches along the Strand, and you are centrally located between Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing. A few places to scope out there would be the Sea Island Resort (www.seaislandonthebeach.com), Southwind Villas, Ocean Forest, Forest Dunes (condos available thru www.vrbo.com) or more in the Avenues area would be Monteray Bay Suites, Ocean Reef, Long Bay, Ocean Dunes/Sand Dunes, The Caravelle, Grande Shores or the Mariott at Grande Dunes....
October is a great time too! The crowds have thinned, the temps are wonderful and we have the prettiest skys that time of year. The Pavilion will be just a memory, but Nascar Speedpark, a number of mini golf options, Ripley%26#39;s Aquarium, Alligator Adventure, and Magic Quest will still be open.
Have a great time!
:)
That sounds like a real good idea MB. I also appreciate the names of some places to check out that you gave me and what it will be like in Oct.. I was a little concerned about the temps at that time of year but it sounds like we should still be able to enjoy the beach and other stuff.
Thank you.
The karts are much better at Grand Prix in North Myrtle than at Nascar Speedpark in Myrtle Beach but both sould be visited with kids your age. I just got back and my nephew enjoyed the bungy jump at Nascar speedpark. Both barefoot near North Myrtle and Broadway at the beach should be visited along with mutiple minature golf courses.
Gonefishin...
Thank you for the info. I checked the condo you named on the vrbo site and really liked it but unforunatly it is booked the week the kids have their fall break and we will be heading out there.
