Condo Help

Our family has vacationed at Myrtle many years in the past. the past few years we have cruised, but since there have been a lot of renovation in Myrtle, we%26#39;ve decided to go back this year. Earlier in the year we tried to book at the place we have most recently stayed at...Forest dunes, but the rooms we wanted were already taken. We will only stay there if we can get a room on the first floor, which makes getting to the pool, lazy river and hot tub very easy. That place isn%26#39;t clean enough to stay there without that ';plus';.

So that option...gone.

Next option was Dunes Village...we always used to love that place. Good news for us. They totally renovated. I booked a room there on April 6th for our July 15-22 stay. I called repeated to be sure that they were going to make their July 14th opening date. Guess what. I found out at the end of May that the opening would be postponed until August 11th.... they never called, mailed, emailed or even attempted to contact me. I found this out through their web-stie. So I called them....they assured me that they credited my credit card account on May 6th.....which I think they did...but wasted a month of condo searching for me.

So...I contacted a realty company...Booe Realty...and they had 2 condos at Sea Island...one on the 9th floor and one on the 12th floor. So I booked the 9th floor. Upon receiving my contract I noticed that the unit number indicated that I had the 12th floor unit. I contacted Booe Realty and the agent said she would sort things out.....Well, she sorted things out all right. Neither condo can be rented until August!!!!

I am very angry. Had I backed out of the Dunes Village or the Booe Realty contracts, I would have lost money. Yet in both the Dunes Village and the Booe Realty situations, they didn%26#39;t have their ';ducks in order'; and they are out nothing...yet I%26#39;m am out of a nice place to stay.

# 1....I need a clean place to stay up in that Golden Mile section of Myrtle. Ideas??????

# 2 Does anyone know how I can get compensation from Dunes Village or Booe Realty?

Thanks.

Condo Help

I think you have up to 30 days prior to arrival date to cancel for full refund. Pretty much the way all realtors operate.

On the other hand. In both cases they gave you July reservations that were for places not available til August. It%26#39;s their mistake, Not your%26#39;s. I think you have a legit complaint. I%26#39;d locate and contact the owners of both operations instead of dealing with reservation personel.

Condo Help

Thanks pop!

Although according to my contract, I would have lost almost $600 of my money if I would have backed out w/ Booe Realty. And I would have lost at least $200 with Dunes Village. No 30 day thing. I plan to contact someone at Booe Realty, but I didn%26#39;t have any luck with Dunes Village.....so I won%26#39;t be staying there anytime soon!!!

I%26#39;ve been looking into a condo at the Caravelle. It%26#39;s oceanfront on the 7th floor, but it doesn%26#39;t have a washer %26amp; dryer in the unit...and since I am dealing directly with the owner, not the resort, I will not have daily towel service...prety important to a mom with 4 boys and a husband...I really don%26#39;t want to spend my days in the 1st floor laundromat. A plus to the unit is that there is a 7th floor pool steps from the condo....a minus is that the oceanfront view is some what blocked by a 7th floor terrace. Although a huge plus is the price....and it has been recently renovated...very pretty!!!

I%26#39;m so disappointed....I%26#39;m wondering if God isn%26#39;t trying to stop us from going.....perhaps saving a child from a rip tide...or a shrk...or an accident??? I don%26#39;t know.

Maybe MBConcierce(sp?) can help you. You paid for a condo reservation they couldn%26#39;t / didn%26#39;t provide.

That%26#39;s like somebody selling a car they didn%26#39;t have. I don%26#39;t see how they could hold your money.

My credit card did get credited from Dunes Village.

And I have every reason to believe that Booe Realty will do the same...or atleast they better.

My problem is....if I back out I loose money...

when they back out...they loose nothing.

I%26#39;ve also lost a lot of TIME. Time I could have been using looking for another place before someone else reserves it.

I do hope MB reads this post. But pop, you been very understanding and kind...thank you.

Try Elliott. They might not have anything in the actual area you%26#39;re wanting but you might find something to fall back on so trip won%26#39;t be a complete washout.

First off, I am really sorry that you have had such an experience trying to get lodging for your upcoming trip....I did email the folks at Booe re: this posting (actually emailed the link to this posting) and I am hoping that they take care of this situation. I have used Booe a number of times for out of town guests and family functions, and have never run into a problem. They have always been more than accomodating.

So, guess the situation is right now that you all need a place to stay and you want to be in ';the avenue'; or ';gazebo'; area....did you check on www.vrbo.com? Or how about Grande Shores or Long Bay? Wasnt for sure what size of condo that you are looking for, but they both have decent size condos.......

Let us know what you find out.

:)

MB, you are such a dear. Such a kind and concerned sole! Thank you. I really appreciate your help.

Booe Realty really raked me over the coals. They were so very COLD. They offered a couple of other condos, but from the pictures on their web site, I could see stains on the chairs in the living room...yuck!!!! Not near the accomadations we were getting at Sea Island Inn. They offere NO compensation for their huge mistake....and my nearly $600 deposit has not been credited to my credit card as of yet.

At least Dunes Village is going to give me a 20% dicount next year.

I did some research and found a wonderful deal at the Caravelle....unit number 713. The room had bee remodel...simply beautiful. The only down fall was that it did not have a washer and dryer in the unit. I found that unit on www.vrbo.com. Contacted the owner. He was a super nice fella...always going the extra mile. Hopefuly he will get a washer /dryer unit in his condo and I would love to rent form him.

On www.vrbo.com I also found another condo...this one at Southwind..I know this is a beautiful place. It is way larger than we need, but it has a washer and dryer in the unit....and it is on the 4th floor...big plus for me! The owner cut about $700 off the price since it is getting so close to the time....but even at that, we budgeted for a 1 bedroom condo....so I guess we won%26#39;t be doing a lot of extras at the beach this year.

My family is very excited about the condo, and so am I.

I would just advise to anyone dealing with BOOE REALTY to be cautious. (Don%26#39;t deal with them!) How could a realty company rent out a condo that wasn%26#39;t theirs to rent out yet?....sounds elementary to me. I am glad that asked so many questions and called so many times to BOOE...because....with contract in hand, I knew something wasn%26#39;t right.....What if I would have just sent the rest of my money...and then showed up for vacation....man...that would have been horrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did look into Elliot Realty and found several nice properties there also.

Thanks again MB and the rest of you for caring....you are what Myrtle Beach is all about! Thankfully Booe Realty doesn%26#39;t service very much of Myrtle Beach, because if they did, Myrtle Beach tourism would not exist!

Vacationeers - sorry to hear that you won%26#39;t be staying at the Sea Island. Did you try renting directly through Sea Island? Funny thing is before we chose the Sea Island we were actually playing with the idea of the Dunes resort but felt it to shakey of opening the day that we arrived on vacation. Glad we didn%26#39;t take that chance! Anyways, I hope you have a wonderful time and that everything works out. Enjoy!

I think you will really have a great time at Soutwind....afterall, that is Sea Islands sister property. I really hope that Booe does make right by you....let us know how everything turns out!

:)
