What's going on w/e 30th Mar 07?

Just provisionally looking at hotels for the weekend of 30th March - 1st April next Spring.

Many hotels have no rooms available and what is left seems extortionate in price, I assume there must be some kind of big event or conference going on?

Anyone know?

That is Spring Break for many public schools as well as some colleges. Many families will be traveling and taking short vacations. The spring flowers should begin blooming. It is a great time to be in Charleston. I do not know of anything else. Someone else might know if a large cruise ship will be arriving or departing that week.

That is the Cooper River Bridge Run weekend - www.bridgerun.com. In 2006, we had over 30,000 folks in town for the run/walk. Great time to be here but also very crowded and as you%26#39;ve discovered, higher hotel prices.

We will be driving back from Florida, our last trip there, and I vowed I would visit Charleston this time on the way back (we have already visited Savannah before). I am desperate to visit Charleston!

I have provisionally booked the Residence Inn downtown/riverview, although I know this is not walking distance to the historic area. I just want the whole day on the Saturday to explore. We will be leaving Sunday moming anyhow, if we can get out with some of the roads being closed!

...forgot about the Bridge Run! It is also Flowertown Festival in Summerville.
