Hilton Hotel at Hilton Head

Hi, I am in charge of planning a vacation for 7 women for our every 2 year get together. Most live in Ohio so we decided on Hilton Head. Can anyone give me information on the Hilton there? I really like Hilton%26#39;s but I know nothing about this one. Are the rooms large? Close to restaurants? Nightlife? What is the best airport to fly into?

Thanks!

The Hilton is an oceanfront hotel which is located in Palmetto Dunes. Read the Sticky ';Plantations'; for more information.

You might be better off renting a house for the ladies. There are a number of vacation rental agencies here on the island, or you can use a Vacation Rental by Owner website to find something. Check vrbo.com or cyberrentals.com for ideas.

Commercial companies that I recommend are Vacation Company or Island Getaway.

No matter where you stay, you will probably want to drive to the restaurants and nightlife.

The only airline that flies direct into Hilton Head is USair. They fly turboprops out of Charlotte.

Most of us fly in and out of Savannah. The airport is a 35 minute drive from the island. Delta provides direct service from Cincy via Comair. Other airlines are American, continental,Northwest, usair, united, and airtran.

Hi, Yes, The Hilton Hotel is very good. It used to be the Hyatt Regency Hotel. It has a beautiful beachfront in the Palmetto Dunes Plantation. It has a great pool area with bar, etc.by the beach with music, etc. It has a few nice restaurants. I believe it offers entertainment in the lounge.

There are bicycles for rent with bike paths to ride, canoeing and

kayaking, golf courses, tennis courts, etc. and all within the

plantation and available through the hotel.

The hotel also offers shuttle service to Shelter Cove Harbor where there%26#39;s restaurants, stores, sightseeing boats, etc.and a shopping indoor mall just minutes away. Palmetto Dunes is very convenient

since its mid-island. Taking taxis or a minivan is inexpensive to

other spots to dine,etc.

I disagree with hhi guy about renting a house or condo through

VRBO because there%26#39;s no accountability by owners. I%26#39;ve been

there, done that, and paid a very expensive pricetag. But that%26#39;s another thread.

Mainly, many of the private homes and condos on HHI are showing their age now. Many of them have kitchens /bathrooms that need gutted out and should have been replaced yesterday and this includes at the posh addresses in private plantations.

That%26#39;s not what women need to find on a holiday. At a hotel you just call the desk with your complaint and it%26#39;s taken care of.

Have fun.
