The area is very conventient to everything you will need, and it is an easy drive into Charleston. In general, the newer apartments in suburban Charleston are very nice and have many more amenities than comparable complexes in New Jersey.

dont all answer at once,,,lol
I lived in Plantation Oaks when they were first built in the mid-1980s. Obviously, I cannot comment on what they are like now. Back then, I was impressed with the layout. We had a one-bedroom with a screened porch overlooking the swimming pool. The pool was great and the place was surrounded by grand old Oak Trees that added to the ambience of the complex. It was a gated community that required a clicker or code to get in. I found this to give a false sense of security that was really not necessary and in a couple of cases I think it attracted problems.
Back in those old days we had a problem with huge snakes. I%26#39;m talking 10 foot long and as big around as your head. There were two of them found in the grand oaks. And we were wondering what happened to those dogs . . . (not ours, thank goodness!) Anyway, the whole area is much more populated now and I%26#39;m sure that the remnants of wild life are much more far and in between than back then.
You are close to lots of things. St. Francis Hospital. O%26#39;Charlie%26#39;s Restaurant. Chick-Fil-A. Banks. Food Lion. I-526. Not too much farther away is a new Super Wal-Mart. The other direction is Citadel Mall, with Sears, Belk, Dillard%26#39;s %26amp; Target.
The traffic on Highway 61 is a bear! Of course, it may be mild compared to what you are used to. You can also take Glenn McConnell Boulevard to avoid some of that traffic and just cut back in to Hwy 61 near the complex.
Hope this info helps!
thanks fir. that was helpful. I have heard there%26#39;s a lot of banana spiders around the complex but I can deal with them over the snakes,,lol.
do you happen to know if there%26#39;s any bars or nightclubs very closeby? I am single and enjoy the nightlife. if you know of this Id appreciate any comments. thanks again
Okay Beezer, let me think . . . depends of course in what you are looking for . . . there are many choices I have not listed. I have included estimated drive times, not during traffic hour.
Penachio%26#39;s is an Italian Restaurant close to you, but the whole left size is a nice lounge, dark with a bar, booths and I think a sofa. They have their following of regulars and I think on weekends have live jazz music. You can also grab a nice dinner at the bar, Italian favorites, steak, seafood, etc. (2 minutes)
Back Nine is in a stip shop right up from you next to a Subway and a florist. Bar with kareoke some nights. I think pool table, but can%26#39;t remember. (2 minutes)
The Wolftrack Inn is a neighborhood favorite not terribly far from you going away from town, maybe 5 minutes down Hwy 61 between Hardees and Piggly Wiggly grocery store. The Wolftrack is a bar, not a restaurant, but it does serve some food and I think a good lunch special. Live bands on the weekends. A group of faithful regulars. (5 minutes)
Tracy%26#39;s is supposed to move in across the street in the strip shops across from the Piggly Wiggly. Not sure when it will open, but it is a sports bar. They have another location about 7 minutes from you on Sam Rittenberg across from Ashley Lanes Bowling alley. They have live music some nights and kareoke on Wednesdays. Lots of pool tables, shuffle board, foosball, Golden Tee, etc. (5 minutes to the new one, 7 minutes to the one across from the Bowling Alley.)
Some folks like the bar in the Bull %26amp; Finch restaurant inside of Citadel Mall. Depends on what you like . . . (5 minutes)
%26#39;R%26#39; Pub is up near the corner of Hwy 61 and Hwy 7 (Sam Rittenburg) and likely you will have to ride right by it on your way home. Regular bar. I think pool tables and darts. (5 minutes)
Manny%26#39;s is a little farther from you up on Hwy 7 going towards the Northbridge. If you are coming from North Charleston or by I-26, you would have to pass it. It is a Greek/American restaurant, but has a good bar scene with trivia on Thursdays and live music some nights. (10 minutes)
Cisco%26#39;s is in the same area and is a Mexican place, but don%26#39;t let that fool you. They have a pretty good happy hour crowd, live music some nights, radio station broadcasts and kareoke on Fridays. (10 minutes)
Hope this helps!
it did help. thank you very much
